Important Reminders
- Please do not bring gum to the session.
- Remove any visible temporary tattoos.
- Clean off any visible marker from skin.
- Remove any stickers from children’s skin or clothing.
Choose Your Color Palette First
Start by selecting a palette of 3–4 colors. This will help guide your outfit choices and keep everyone coordinated.
Neutrals:
Beige, ivory, black, white, gray, and brown tones.
Earthy tones:
Rust, marigold, deep navy, burnt sienna, terracotta, sage, turmeric, and classic blues.
Soft/pastel tones:
Soft pink, baby blue, mint green, peach, periwinkle, and soft yellow.
Once you’ve chosen your palette, each family member can express their personal style while still coordinating as a group.
Skip the Logos
Avoid clothing with logos or text, as they can be distracting and take attention away from the people in the photo. Clean, classic pieces always photograph best.
Mix Solids, Patterns, and Texture
Combining solids with subtle patterns or textures adds visual interest to your photos. However, try not to include too many patterns in one image, as this can feel overwhelming.
The goal is for your outfits to complement each other—not compete for attention.
Prioritize Comfort
During your session, there will be movement, playfulness, and candid moments. Choosing comfortable clothing allows you to fully enjoy the experience.
Years from now, what you’ll value most is how you felt in those moments—not how perfectly styled everything was. Wear something that feels like you.
Accessorize Thoughtfully
Accessories such as necklaces, bracelets, hats, watches, rings, or glasses can enhance your look. Keep it simple—just a few well-chosen pieces can add the perfect finishing touch.
Remember: less is often more.
Additional Notes
- Ensure all clothing is clean and wrinkle-free. Wrinkles can take away from the overall look of your photos.
- Consider changing children into their outfits right before the session to avoid spills or messes.
Helpful Items to Bring:
- Baby wipes (for quick clean-ups)
- Hairbrush (for last-minute touch-ups)
- Water (especially for outdoor summer sessions)
- Sunscreen and bug spray (for sunny or outdoor locations)
